'trust rod' for 'truss rod'

A truss rod controls the curvature of a guitar’s neck. A trust rod, assumedly, can be relied upon to do the same.

If you switch back to heavy acoustic strings, you will have to adjust the trust rod to eliminate buzz or dead spots on the fretboard.

RJ mini Acoustic Guitar, low action, upgraded strings, properly setup, with trust rod, matte finish, minimal scratch, good and warm tone, perfect for travellers, ..

Unfortunately it has a broken trust rod (I hope to fix 1 day.) The enormous bridge is lifting a bit, and it def needs new frets.

Here’s another variant which also makes a little sense.

In steel-string acoustic guitars, check the neck of the guitar regularly to ensure the thrust rod does not need adjusting.

Nice ones. I didn’t find any return trippers but did find an excellent pun.

Travel tips in Jordan Tourist guides and drivers will expect to be tipped. If you bring along as much luggage as we usually do, it’s nice to tip the hotel porter about one dinar to put into his truss-fund.

As far as Fishing tips alot of people tend to troll the train trustle out there or drift it with jigging or slip bobbers.

Ah, some leisurely fishing below the hustle and bustle of the train trustle. Or is it a trussle.

Unfortunately, all that remains here are the concrete bridge piers from the old train trussle that crossed the Little Turkeyfoot.

Re: 'trust rod' for 'truss rod'

I was about to start a new post for this but the rustling thrustle of eggcornsonance led me back here.

So it was that Miss Greening settled her fragile bones where she did in the Chamber yesterday, and that she spent the first Prime Minister’s Questions of 2018 nustling up to that bespectacled Che Guevara of Tory Remoaners, Monsieur Grieve.

(The Great Masturbator, Dali, 1929, Surrealism) it is in fact a self-portrait of Dali himself. it features his wife/mom as she is nustling up to his genitals, but theres no reaction from dalli because of his fear of sex and women.

Before long I felt him nursling up to my back to check me out. I slowly turned toward him and started scratching all those spots that horses love to be scratched .

I really liked this movie, lots of funny little details like when the hatchlings were sleeping all nozzled up to John.

Clearly the acorn is nuzzle, unless it’s nestle of course, and snuggle’s not too far off either. The last two uniquecorns evoke the breast, guzzling and the sated sleep of infancy.

Nicely rustled up. I tried to muzzle my way in among the words. Nursling and nozzling hark back to noselyng and the start of it all. The el suffix could make a noun into a implement, which happened to nose > nozzle, or it could make a verb into a repetitive or exaggerated movement, as in nose -> nuzzle. Except the latter is not how it happened. It looks as though nuzzle is a deep eggcorn blend from the long ago.

nuzzle. early 15c., “to bring the nose to the ground,” back-formation from noselyng “on the nose, prostrate,” frequentative of nose (v.); meaning “burrow with the nose” is first attested 1520s; that of “lie snug” is from 1590s, influenced by nestle, [frequentative of nest] or by nursle, frequentative of nurse.
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/nuzzle

I once tried to make a list of every word that was etymologically “influenced by” another, in the eggcornical fashion, among the entries in the Online Etymological Dictionary, but gave up when I saw I would need to organize, format, and comment on dozens of pages of words. Speaking of which, we’ve met noseling indirectly before in discussion of other back-formations, including headlong. Meanwhile, more harking back:

Do nuzzle and nestle make a tiny fuzzy spot?

It sat there, opened, showing the two sides of the silver heart, comfortably nuzzled within my open palm.

I’ll try to enlarge that tiny fuzzy spot.

Doing a search on “muzzling up to” yields lots of references to animals such as dogs and horses approaching someone or something with their muzzles. Ignoring those, I found things like:

Well we shall see how things work out with Trump muzzling up to the Saudis, Iran, Russia, China and anybody else with whom he can make a profit.

Admittedly, some of these perps could be thinking of a person’s snoot as a muzzle and thus using “muzzling” consciously.
