Some would say that “reserved” doesn’t sound enough like “resigned” to be an eggcorn. But the two words are similar-sounding enough that I think it’s reasonable to assume the one was substituted for the other because of that—and that’s eggcornish!
The meaning connection may be less plausible. Can any of you see an eggcornish meaning connection here, or will we have to write this one off as just a simple malaprop?
