A “thoroughfare” is a way or place for passage. Albeit, “thorough” is the archaic version of “through,” one does not necessarily have a modern comprehension of the former, and might resort to the latter for sense. Does this provide sufficient basis for an eggcorn? Perhaps it’s just another gray area for others to decide.
