Mock-1 for the first user test under semi-realistic conditions.

One can reasonable refer to a test of a new user interface/build as a “mock up”, although the term usually is applied to an earlier stage. At UCLA Health, such a test of a system with heavy user interaction was recently referred to as “Mock-1”, with the clear intention of having subsequent tries be “Mock-2” and so on. I am not clear whether the play is on “Mach 1” (denoting speed) or “Mark 1”, denoting a model. I am new to the eggcorn forums and am not sure if this qualfies.

Eggcorns are committed inadvertently, so if the perps of this were aware of what they were doing it is not an eggcorn. Puns can be just as much fun, of course, but they are a different sort of thing. A pun on two “techy” words at once is especially cool.
