dental identity?

Just occurred to me to wonder if anybody links identity and identify with the forensic practice of examining the teeth of a corpse or unidentified victim to establish who they are. Anybody heard of such a construal?

Tracing the real etymology, from the Latin idem (“same”) to the modern notion of identity, is like taking a course in philosophy.
