Shear force is the force exerted on something when two parts of it are simultaneously pushed/pulled in opposite directions. It’s the principle used in scissors (shears).
What is the relationship between bending moments and sheer force?
Q&A site
sheer force /SHi(ə)r fôrs/ Noun A lateral force that stretches tissues as one structure changes speed at a different rate than an adjacent structure.

Question: Draw sheer force and bending moment diagram for this abovediagram
engineering study
The first step of the procedure is to apply a sheer force to the lock by pushing on the bottom plate. This force causes one or more of the pins to be scissored between the top and bottom plate…
Thus, the procedure for one pin at a time picking a lock is to apply sheer force…When the top of the key pin reaches the sheer line, the moving portion of the lock will give slightly, and driver pin will be trapped above the sheer line.

This is plausibly an eggcorn, though, absent a perp confession, we cannot rule out mere spelling errors. Also, I note that “shear” and “sheer” are possibly etymologically related.
