The fiddle position

I sighed as I looked back to see Annie curled up in the fiddle position as she mumbled in her sleep.

“Kid are you okay?!” I asked alarmed, as I hurried over to his side. He nodded slowly as he was curled up in the fiddle position.

If a white person uses the word nigger, I am not going to curl up in the fiddle position in the middle of the floor and wet my pants, especially when the word isn’t targeted at me or used in a racist manner.

Re: The fiddle position

“Bowed” sounds like a pun in this context.
.
I’d love to talk to some perps, and hear from them how they construe this.

Re: The fiddle position

Maybe it’s a reference to the end of the fiddle, which is tightly curled.

Re: The fiddle position

Isn’t the growing end of a fern or similar plant, which is curled up on itself and slowly uncurls as it grows, called a fiddle-head? (And yes, Bruce, it apparently comes from its similarity to the scrollwork at the thin end of a violin.) From these pictures it does look like it makes sense to curl up in the fiddle position.
