"propper" for "proper"

In a different thread in this forum, I just posted a comment including a quote in which someone uses “propper” for “proper”. A web search on the phrase “propper way” yields lots of examples. Presumably a spelling error in most cases, especially since the usual English pronunciation rule would suggest that “proper” should be pronounced to rhyme with “roper”, but I think it’s plausible that, for some users, there’s a meaning connection: if something is proper, it’s value or validity is propped up thereby; thus propriety would act as a propper. So, likely an eggcorn for some users.
