Reminds me of this I came across again the other day:

I cannot picture my life with a man who exonerates such a woman, above even God.

This was in a Pride & Prejudice fan-fiction, referring to Mr. Collins and Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Clearly it means something like “honor, reverence”.

I expect there are other examples out there, but have not come up with a good sieve for finding them. In a sense honoring and exonerating tend in the same direction, but in another sense they are almost opposites. There are some examples of exhonorate out there, and you can see how it could mean both “honor (overmuch)” and “restore to honor, exonerate”, but the standard etymology of exonerate is from onus , taking the exonerated one out from ( ex ) under the onus of accusations of misbehavior.

btw, you can (unsurprisingly) exuberate other things than confidence:

Orton was the most interesting during this time period and he certainly exuberated charisma.

Exuberating coolness (and in a lesser degree peace and tranquillity) strikes me as at least faintly oxymoronic. It seems unlikely that the perps really have exuberance in mind: it’s more like a garden-variety malapropism for exude .

Just a couple more months until graduation day! It is kind of a bitter sweet feeling. We have worked so hard for so long to get here, and now it is all almost over. This is a huge stepping stone in all of our lives. I am highly exonerate of discomfort when it comes to graduation day! Albeit it is almost over, I can’t wait until I don’t have to wake up at 6:30am every morning anymore. I am ready for the resplendent lights on us for graduation, and i am ready to rote the routine!
