pasture raised for pasteurized

I was reading comments on a Facebook recipe that uses raw eggs. One commenter said that it is possible that the eggs in Australia might be cleaner than ours, and finished with “They’re probably pasture raised”. I’ve never heard that expression, but the person might have been thinking about free-range chickens and re-interpreted “pasteurized”.

Aussie vowel-pronunciation might be involved: G’die, might!

Re: pasture raised for pasteurized

One wonders how many English speakers think that “pasture” is in “pasteurize.” Spelling “pasteurized” as “pasturized” is an extremely common mispelling—as frequently as a half of one percent of the time it is misspelled.

Pesturizing: leading your chickens out to pasture to control pests in the milk (here in Quebec, eggnog is called hen’s milk).

“Pesterized.” Credible eggcorn.

“Lait de poule.” That I get. But what do you call “French toast” in Quebec?
