Malaprops

Just ran across and enjoyed this

He’ll be stark raven mad, chopping up the competition like cold slaw. When all is set and done, we’ll be all curled up on the ground in the feeble position, soaping wet with our own tears. He’s coal hearted. It’ll be like having a mindgrain.

This is so mind bottling.

A number of these of these have been discussed here on the sight. [purposeful, please forgive] Some are more malapropish than eggcornish (entertaining precisely because taken as written they do not make sense), though cold slaw, curving his hunger, all is set and done, coal-hearted and the feeble position are entertaining because taken as written they make sense too, i.e. they are eggcorns.

Soaping wet was somehow new to me, though it is in the Database Feels more like a malapropistic blend of soaking with sopping than an eggcorn, to me, though in some contexts the idea of soap being involved may be apropros.

Re: Malaprops

Since hot slaw is popular here in Cincinnati, it isn’t uncommon to see “cold slaw” on restaurant menus, so I’m never sure if it intentional or a misunderstanding.
