prehearse for rehearse

“Prehearse” for “rehearse” Actually kinda makes sense. “None of the videos on this site were prehearsed.”

What a nice catch! Pre- for re- in a situation where it does, as you say, kinda make sense. Rehearsals are pre-vious to the actual performance, so why not?

Reminds me of saying, back in college days, that I would like a particular hymn sung at my funeral. (I still would, fwiw.) A friend said he would be glad to lead a re-hearse-al of it, and after a moment’s thought, added that he hoped nobody would want an on-corpse afterwards.
