V.S. Ramachandran’s book is short and has enough mind-nuggets to make it well worth the read, although I do think that he extends some of his theories with a bit too much alactricity.

This one could go in the “Contribute” section for my money. True, three syllables doesn’t sound quite like two, but this is probably one of the kind where the perp has read the word a lot more often than s/he has heard it, and expected syllables get overlooked or inserted in the middle of read words more easily than spoken ones, I think. Whatever, it’s a malaprop and it does make energetic sense.
