‘Preposterous’ is fairly opaque at a casual glance so substituting prosperous seems understandable. Although it’s probably a mere malaprop, pre-prosperous might suggest an impoverished, mean or second rate notion rather than outrageously absurd one.

Ah, but there’s hope! Better days coming … And surely, the prevalence, in todays world, of ideas that would in other ages have been thought to be preposterosity posturing as reasonableness or even orthodoxy, should give hope to even the most outlandish notions. Success may be just around the corner!

Well now you mention it, I had to dig to find examples of preposterosity among those on offer as most seemed euphemisms for poverty, and most of those came from Indonesia where different styles of address and vocabulary are required according to social rank and circumstances. No doubt such exquisite politeness has a downside but the germ of movement in preprosperous contrasts tellingly with the fatalism of impoverished.
