"toot" for tout

Touts solicit custom importunately. To “toot” the benefits of a product might arise from someone hearing someone else mispronouncing something they’ve read. It’s more likely that this is a neat eggcorn squash between “touting” and “tooting one’s own horn”.

Everyone is looking for ways to increase their energy. Company’s (even the holistic ones) are now selling “energy” drinks, energy supplements and tooting the benefits of vitamins and a whole lot more!
