potential future lying ahead

It seems I must have mentioned some from this list, but still, today I ran across

the potential future lying ahead

I previously had collected [my favorite first]

in the coming days of the future that lie ahead of us

the impending future that awaited

the future days ahead

the coming months ahead

the coming months and year ahead

the future coming days

the next two weeks to come

upcoming days ahead

and, last but not least:

a new year that we now face ahead of us

What is it about the future that attracts such redundancy? Are we stuttering over the uncertainties involved? To be sure, I have a few entries like:

currently at the present time

today right now

and (another favorite)

looking back in retrospect to things that happened in the past

but past and present don’t match the future in this regard. Better (or maybe worse?) days are coming further down the pike, my friends!
