Blank holiday

On Monday I heard someone (from continental Europe) mention that it was a blank holiday in the UK. My guess is that you’ve had this one before and I just don’t know how to use the search facility. At any rate, to most people this would make more sense than the original. I mean, it’s a day when nothing is open, when nothing happens, and what could banks possibly have to do with anything?

Re: Blank holiday

I don’t believe we have recorded this one.

Good that you heard this one live. I’m having trouble finding written examples of it.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
