Re: Tangenital for tangential

I like it Marty, but I’m having difficulty in imagining what imagery the eggcorners are entertaining here; one definition of tangential is to be only slightly connected, which I suppose you could argue is the case for male genitalia but surely eggcorners aren’t thinking along those lines? It’s certainly popular enough though, with ‘tangenital’ reaching 11,200 googlehits. (‘Tangenial’ has 1,110 and ‘tangenteel’, sadly, only the one.) It strikes me that ‘congenital’ may also be exerting some influence here?

Re: Tangenital for tangential

I was wondering if there was any influence from the word genesis (as an origin of something). So, “tangenital” would refer to something that has it’s origin in a tangent—at least in the mind of the utterer.
