Over 400 ghits for “if it’s any constellation,” and over 600 for “constellation prize” (though many of the latter are song titles, etc). Sometimes reshapings make more sense of a semantically opaque word, but this is a case where the reanalysis is a bit puzzling: I just didn’t think “consolation” was so unusual – and “if it’s any constellation” turns a fairly transparent phrase into nonsense. Examples:
If it’s any constellation to the New England region, Boston’s Arnold is still in the running for the account.

That’s probably all the cool stuff that the faeries could do for you,
but if it’s any constellation, they couldn’t do much more for me either.

I do hope you are feeling better, and I hope you don’t die soon, and if it’s any constellation to you, my dog Jassie isn’t going so great either.

If they lose, they get a constellation prize (appliance, TV, bikes, etc.) If they succeed, they win a cruise or trip.

You get the CONSTELLATION PRIZE when you are born under a good sign, and you have nothing to be CONSTERNED ABOUT.

Maybe it’s a bit of a stretch, but I think “CONSTELLATION prize” works nicely as an eggcorn in the context of recognizing stellar work that just didn’t grab the top prize.
