Airline Stuartist

This substitution is so common that “Stuartist” returns more sites for flight attendants than royalty. It follows pretty naturally, as the Stuarts (or Stewarts) were, in fact, stewards.

Not sure if it counts.

Re: Airline Stuartist

Welcome to the forum, curlyqueue!

It’s probably a malapropism rather than an eggcorn—it’s hard to see how users might consciously think that the usual meaning of “Stuartist” is appropriate here.

But what a great malaprop! Over 1200 raw Google hits for “stuartist” (few of which have anything to so with British history), and 47 unique hits for “airline stuartist” by itself.

An MSWord-ism, surely?
