This caught my eye as more than a typo and likely an eggcorn.
While the site has remedied the headline (now “Google To Improve YouTube Copyright Protection”), the URL is more difficult to modify and continues to confirm the sighting:

I think you’re right that this is an eggcorn—and a good one. It really should get into the Database.
