Micro chasm/microcosom

A fellow at work recently described our situation as a “micro chasm” of a bigger company initiative, and I think we’ve got a winning eggcorn here. Consider these:

“This situation is nothing more than a micro chasm of a human phenomenon: generally, people take the path of least resistance.” http://rmwestjr.blogspot.com/2004/08/mi … -life.html

”...I would like to demonstrate the similarities of the American macro chasm with the characters that populate the micro chasm of the ghetto; characters such as pimps, loan sharks, drug dealers and gang members.” http://thesouthend.typepad.com/tsenews/ … e_wor.html

”...it would be silly to place a zero tolerance policy on it, a school is a micro chasm of society, and because violence exists in a school.”

Today Google reports some 561 hits on “micro chasm” and many support my view that people are describing unfortunate circumstances or aspects of their “world in minature” when they use this eggcorn. As I think about the memo that caused me to research this, it almost seems a freudian slip. In any case, seems a good one for the database, any thoughts?
