Torturous Path (tortuous)

Hello.

I was doing a literature search today and came across a paper entitled “Childhood lead poisoning: the torturous path from science to policy [1].” I realized that this is an eggcorn, for while “torturous path” makes sense, the phrase really should be “tortuous path” meaning “full of twists, turns, or bends; twisting, winding, or crooked: a tortuous path” [2].

N’est pas?
