I’m not sure what to make of this one. The comic strip Pogo had a porcupine character named “Porky Pine,” and it just might be that lots of other people are also amused by the intentional word distortion involved; After all, “porky pine” conjures up the cute image of a rotund animal with pine needles sticking out all over (much like a porcupine would appear). The usages I have included below seem rather nonchalant, but that doesn’t guarantee they were unintentional.
