humblebees

Not an eggcorn, I guess, but have just run across “humblebee” for “bumblebee” in a manuscript, assumed it was a spellchecker run amok, then discovered it’s a variant form for species in the genus Bombus. Has anyone run across this in print before? I a US based editor, my author is Canadian, for what it’s worth.
