'and question' for 'in question'

For /category/english/and-%c2%ab%c2%bb-inen/ :

Grading topology homework yesterday, I saw someone had written “Let X be the space and question and let …”.

Searching Google Groups for
“the * and question” -insubject:question
will yield a number of results with lines like “the issue and question is whether…”, precisely this eggcorn.
