Stainless Teal

I saw this in a shop window and it’s totally wonderful. A google search reveals a very large number of eBay listings etc. calling fine watches and cutlery “stainless teal”!

Re: Stainless Teal

That certainly is a bizarre finding, and it does cause one to pause and chuckle!
Apparently there is a watch brand “Fossil” which has a “stainless teal” description for a product line.

Here are a few Google counts for a variety of spellings…
37,500,000 “stainless steel”
200,000 “stainless steal”
96,600 “stainles steel”
1,330 “stainles steal”
844 “stainless teel” ...(605 -fossil)
751 “stainless teal” ...(184 -fossil)

My conclusions are these:
1. “Stainless teal” is mainly a product offering under the brand name “Fossil.”
2. Other occurrences of “stainless teal”—and most occurrences of “stainless teel”—are typographical errors of “stainless steel.” ...I’m guessing that with all those consecutive s’s, people are bound to leave one out.
