"beholding to" for "beholden to"

“These guys, they used to be Expos. They’ve been second-class citizens a long time. Owned by Major League Baseball. Playing in Puerto Rico. Now they have a home, and it’s like now they have a home and they’re going to be beholding to Peter Angelos?” <http://www.nbc4.com/tomsherwoodsnotebook/4267230/detail.html>

‘Beholden’ in the sense of indeptedness has been around since about 1390 and derives from the past participle of ‘behold’. As ‘behold’ is no longer a common word, the eggcorn seems more likely to derive from ‘hold’ as in ‘be held to account’.
