In more and more written stuff, I see the terminal “ed” omitted from past participles. Some times they still sorta make sense. From:

I’ve noticed the omission of the past participle ending in my students’ papers fairly often. Occasionally I can see how the phonological environment around the word led to the omission, but at other times I’m just puzzled.
In this case, I wonder whether the alternate past participle for “light”—“lit”—may be running a bit of interference.
