This one’s inspired by the Nether/Never post by Craig C. Clarke. (In a recent post—Styx/sticks—I also mentioned “nether lands”)
As Craig pointed out in his post, “nether” refers to things situated below. And “nether lands” are those regions one would never want to live. Whence, “never lands.” (Just over 300 Google hits for this this particular configuration).
