On the database. Some people have questioned its eggcorn credentials because it’s been around so long, and I guess that we have to draw a line somewhere in etymological history, but I think this is a classic.

“Chaise lounge” has been around forever—when I was the copy editor of McCall’s, we got a reader letter chastizing us for using “chaise longue.”
But “chase” is new. It’ll be interesting to see if it takes off. The word “chaise” has (so far) had enough usage that it held its own long after “longue” was lost. Maybe it’s starting to lose some strength and people are morphing it into “chase.”
