something to add to "whoa"

I’ve seen the entry for “whoa is me,” but I absolutely love the use of “whoa” for “woe” in the phrase [attributive noun + woes/whoas]—”moving woes/whoas” was the first example. I love the idea of someone standing there, in amazement, exclaiming the interjection “Whoa!” instead of weakly press their wrist to their forehead and lamenting “Woe!”

“Moving whoas” is so much more empowering!

I’ve found other examples of the construction:
Whoas

Interim whoas
I get a call every 18 months or so looking for someone who could fill in as an interim exec. Once or twice I’ve been able to give the caller a suggestion, and sometimes, (I know in total desperation) they ask me to do the job. I always say, “No, no NO….thank you”….
I’ve always thought that being an interim exec would be a horrible job,

School whoas…
I got an F on my fourth paper for school. No one is to blame but myself…
I was really distracted the fourth week of school—it’s not an excuse, only a
reason. It doesn’t make it any better.
My goal was a 4.0 GPA. If I expect to get there, I need to focus much harder.

Re: something to add to "whoa"

Interesting. First I wondered if this was a cupertino, but MS Word changes “whoes” to “whose” and doesn’t even have “whoas” in the list of options. So it’s just a spelling mistake.

Re: something to add to "whoa"

so you don’t think it’s an eggcorn?

I do—but of course, I could be wrong. But even if THEY aren’t making an “image” change, I do, when I read it. Does that count?
