Taunt vs. Taut

I haven’t come across this one yet on the site:

I hear (and also see on Google searches) people saying “Pull it taunt (a noun meaning challenge, jibe, or insult)” instead of “Pull it taut (snug or tight).”

“You can tack fabric up on the walls and pull it taunt.” (from Yahoo! Answers)


Feeling quite combobulated.

There’s lots of google hits for “taunt fabric” (as just one example of incorrect usage) so I think this should go in
