Eggcorns and related phenomena

The deeper we dig for the roots of eggcorns, the more we get caught up in the gray areas, the maybe-eggcorns, the doesn’t-really-feel-like-eggcorns. The entire eggcorn concept is still being clarified and delimited.

Here is some reading from Language Log, if you are interested in non-eggcorns that are yet sufficiently close to be hard to distinguish from what we call eggcorns.
