"self-suspecting" for "self-respecting"

This isn’t an eggcorn – the difference in sound between “respecting” and “suspecting” is just too great. But I like reshapings that reveal connections between two apparently unrelated ideas. A bit of self-suspicion probably really is a necessary component of a healthy self-respect.

Just a very small handful of these out there. Examples:

I’m convinced this kind of rigour would have stopped the unnecessary carnage of 9/11, as any self-suspecting bomber would have realised at that point that the game was up (!)
