point of you -> point of view

I read this in an email on a list to which I subscribe. The actual quote was:

“I am very involved in anti-poverty and anti-racism work, and am learning to
say that I am relatively observant Jewishly—from a totally egalitarian point
of you.”

This is my favorite so far of these mislogotransphasic phrases.

I’m really glad that someone pointed me to this site. I have more.

Re: point of you -> point of view

Welcome to the eggcorn website andrine. The eggcorn you mentioned was also discussed here:

Point of You/Point of view by Kit Contribute! 0 2007-03-19 13:16:55 by Kit

There was also an eggcorn of “rearview mirror” transforming to “rear-of-you mirror” discussed previously in the Forum.

Re: point of you -> point of view

Thanks. I tried to search for it before posting and didn’t come up with anything. Is there a better way to search?

Re: point of you -> point of view

“Point of you” is actually in the Database here: http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/english/279/you/

I’m not sure how you originally searched, but I find the most dependable approach is to push the “Eggcorn Database” button at the top of this page. That will take you to the Database home page—and there, on the right margin, use the button called “Google Search.” That’s usually the most dependable of our 3 search engines.

Re: point of you -> point of view

I use the “Search” option on the menu overhead. But, you must enter ONLY ONE word—“view” seemed to work best—then I sort through the list
