Heard the pronunciation “straineous” on a PBS California travel show called “Road Trip with Huell Howser”. (Howser has a distinctive accent.) This is an eggcorn since “strenuous” and “strain” have different etymological origins, and thus slightly different meanings. There are 741 hits for “straineous” on Google.

Good hunting, kmischutte. I think the best place for this is to include it with strainuous, since the imagery is the same. I think it helps reinforce the case for eggcorning. I wonder if they were thinking of adding “ous” to “strainy” and changed the “y” to and “e”?
