I was in a certification class for English teachers recently and one of the other students (so presumably someone who thinks about language far more than the normal population) insisted that the name of the sport with birdies and rackets was “bad mitten”. Not sure this is a valid eggcorn as there doesn’t seem to be much linguistic rationale behind it, but it gets a fair number of Google hits. Incidentally, there appears to be a band called Bad Mitten and the Shuttlecocks.

It reminds me a bit of when I thought an ampersand was an “amber sand” ...not much imagery involved, just word fragments. Even so, there may be some imagery associated with “bad mitten.” Both mittens and rackets can be thought of extensions of the hand, but I’m not sure what else we could extract from this.

There are even a few instances of “bat mitten”—presumably because the shuttle is batted about with a mitten-like racket.
