'electrical college' for 'electoral college'

This is quite common, although the ghits are hard to count since a search brings up a lot of schools where you can learn to be an electrician. It may just be a malapropism, unless there’s some connection in people’s minds with the newer technologies of voting, i.e., electronic voting machines.

Bush wins Florida, but loses Ohio, Michigan, Jersey, Pennsylvania AND the coveted 4 electrical college votes from Hawaii.

why not do away with the electrical college completely? it would do away with anomolies of a president being elected while losing the popular vote.

I’m sure he will win the popular vote but he might have problems with the Electrical College.

The electrical college. . . Is this a positive or a negative development in current events?
