Swords

I was in heated discussion with my business partner. I made a point and he said “but that’s a two way sword!” I replied that he was wrong; it was either a two way street or a double edged sword, but not a two way sword.

I’m not sure this is an eggcorn, since it doesn’t really alter the meaning of the phrase. It does however remind me of a brief Language Log post by Mark Liberman (Jan 08, 2006) in which he noted that the use of sword metaphors is changing in English because most of us don’t have direct experience of that particular technology:
