"fall suit" for "follow suit"

A longtime friend was describing an associate’s tendency to follow victim to trends, and accused him of always wanting to fall suit instead of making his own decisions.

When questioned to make sure he wasn’t misheard, he defended his self, explaining that the phrase derives from the rule in various card games that the card that one plays must “fall suit,” i.e. land face up, showing the appropriate suit. Close, but no sick car.

Are those others eggcorns too? They should be.

Heard in the wild, where it was used by a CBC radio host as “falling suit”.
Web examples:

Hiphop news:
With on-going research and re-invention she stays several steps ahead of the competition and leads the revolution in New Media, with fresh ideas that keep the rest of the industry on its toes before eventually falling suit.

Banking industry comment:
These actions then have the usual ripple effect, with other creditors falling suit.
