A longtime friend was describing an associate’s tendency to follow victim to trends, and accused him of always wanting to fall suit instead of making his own decisions.
When questioned to make sure he wasn’t misheard, he defended his self, explaining that the phrase derives from the rule in various card games that the card that one plays must “fall suit,” i.e. land face up, showing the appropriate suit. Close, but no sick car.
Are those others eggcorns too? They should be.
