"mindless drizzle"

There are a handful of hits on this phrase in Google: “mindless drizzle.”

I was inspired to search for it after reading a Washington Post article comment, which mentioned “racist drizzle.”

Re: "mindless drizzle"

Hi, Jill, welcome to the Eggcorn Forum.

I actually LOL’d at “mindless drizzle.” I agree with some of the regulars who say that the best eggcorns make one laugh, not in derision, but in delight at the re-formed word. I like this one a lot!

That said, I don’t think I buy the imagery of “racist drizzle” being anything more than a malapropism. However, I can imagine (if not successfully Google) “incessant drizzle” as a vaguely annoying wetness of idiocy.

Thanks. It made me laugh too. There are Google hits for “pointless drizzle” :) also.

Re: "mindless drizzle"

If you find one which might have some meaningful imagery, you might want to post the examples so we can hash out whether it was intended. “Drizzle” has such a concrete meaning that it’s liable to bear fruit. It’s hard to tell whether “mindless drizzle” might have imagery or simply be mindless.
