One piece of low hanging fruit that we do not seem to have picked yet: the confusion about how to spell “succubus.”
I was thinking this morning about succubi (don’t ask), and it occurred to me that the word was ripe for substitution. I checked the web and, sure enough, numerous references to “suckubi” turned up. Since a succubus is a sexual vampire who preys on men while they sleep, “sucking” the life from them, substituting “suck” for the Latin prefix “sub” (sub/under+cubus/lie=succubus/lie under) was perhaps inevitable.
I’ve listed below a few web citations of this substitutions. Can’t really recommend typing “suckubus” into an internet search engine-the pages that turn up are less than wholesome. I took one for the team.

This is kinda scary. I was sitting here writing about—among other things—succubi, when I decided to check the Eggcorns website for a break. And there at the top is the latest entry: Kem’s “suckubi.” (Yes, definitely low-hanging fruit in my opinion.)
I can’t decide whether that’s a good omen or a very bad one.
