I wondered whether anyone who was impressed by something had been “flawed” by it. Sure enough – 8 hits for the 4-word string “was absolutely flawed by.” This has got to be something more typical of nonrhotic dialects; the first hit, for instance, is from an Australian newspaper. I’m not sure whether or not this is an eggcorn, but I’m leaning to the idea that it’s just a dialectal spelling. How similar do “floored” and “flawed” sound in Australian dialect (or other nonrhotic varieties of English)? I don’t know the answer to that. In any case, examples:
