Not an eggcorn, but amusing

I must have been 30 or more years old before I realized that the word “misled”, which I had read many times over the years, was a form of the verb “to mislead”. I had always thought it was the – ed form of the verb “to misle” (pronounced with a long “i” sound), meaning “to fool or defraud”—a verb which, of course, does not exist, LOL!

Re: Not an eggcorn, but amusing

Since it is so widespread, perhaps this could go in the category of words that don’t exist but should. ;-)

Feeling quite combobulated.
