As the first citation below notes, bludgeoning someone to death can be a messy business, and the substitution of “blood” for the first syllable seems virtually inevitable.
This one reminds me a bit of “dulldrums” – there’s a possibility that the substituted word is actually the source of the standard one; the OED says of “bludgeon”
[Not found before the 18th c.: origin unknown.
Blogon (with g = j) is quoted by Dr. Whitley Stokes from the Cornish drama Origo Mundi (? 14th c.), but its relation to the English is uncertain. Other Celtic etymologies sometimes proposed are on many grounds untenable. A Du. vb. bludsen to bruise, has also been compared; and it has been suggested that the word is of cant origin, connected with blood.]
So “bloodgeon” could potentially flunk our etymological test for eggcornicity. But that’s speculation—no one really knows where “bludgeon” came from. And “bloodgeon” doesn’t appear to have been an early spelling.
This is hard to count. It gets over 1k rGh if you count all the conjugations of the verb, but most hits allude to heavy metal songs, albums or groups called “Bloodgeon.” There are at any rate at dozens of authentic hits, and maybe more. Examples:
But when you don’t have a gun, you don’t kill as often.
Bloodgeoning someone is a messy affair. Stabbing can kill, but much
less frequently than a gun shot. It takes great strenght to
strangulate a victim, any weakling can kill with a gun.

My first day saw the brutal task of bloodgeoning a mouse to death to feed a jaguarundi, and my eyes were the first to behold the 5 hour old baby Spider Monkey.

There are waaay too many games out there with ‘rap’ gangster types on it or games that encourage people to bloodgeon their friends to death with bats or whatever.

I’m surprised that the original poster has not yet been bloodgeoned to death by some of the people around this forum, since the debates on analog and digital can get really feisty around here
