Registrations were closed for a long time because of forum spam, but I have re-opened them on a trial basis.
The forum administrator (chris dot waigl at gmail dot com) reserves the right to request users to plausibly demonstrate that they are real people with an interest in the topic of eggcorns. Otherwise they may be removed with no further justification. Likewise, accounts that have not been used for posting may be removed.

This is a short public service note. We’ve been under quite an assault lately from spammers (in particular on the forum) and even hackers. I’ll post a roundup on what has been going on shortly—when I’m finished hardening our software against such activity.
The forum is pretty safe as far as hacking is concerned (cross your fingers), but I’ll be adding a spam protection module. If you get shaky service, that’ll be why.
There’s also the possibility that any spam protection might overshoot its goal and ban existing, legitimate users: our forum posts here are, after all rather link-rich. If you see any bad effect, please send me a message to [my given name] [dot] [my surname] [at-sign] [Google’s email service] [dot] [com].
