You rectum? >> You reckon?

You rectum? >> You reckon? This is a common saying where I’m from

Re: You rectum? >> You reckon?

Where is this? Do people somehow wrench the rectal imagery into something resembling thought?

(and btw, welcome!)

i rectum—To add a little bit more explanation to David’s comment: “you rectum?” can be an eggcorn only if the people using it are thinking of the word “rectum” as somehow being relevant to the meaning usually applied by “reckon.” If “you rectum” is simply a phonetic representation of how people are saying “reckon” where you are (and like DT I’d be interested in knowing where that is)—without the mediation of any rectal thoughts—then this isn’t an eggcorn.

I think I’ve fingered it out. It seems to me that nearly everyone knows what a rectum is, so I rectum that “rectum” for “reckon” is simply a joke rather than an eggcorn.

Re: You rectum? >> You reckon?

This looks like nothing more than a (rather infantile) pun to me.

Most eggcorns can be used as pun, but not every pun corresponds to an eggcorn.
