This is a small family of eggcorns in which an article or kind of clothing- something you wear- gets reanalyzed as an article of commerce, a ware. Two examples are ‘outerware’ for ‘outerwear’ and ‘underware’ for ‘underwear.’ They’re both very common, although, as you might expect, the collective attention of the internet is especially focussed on underwear.
