“Emil Schult generally fulfilled the role of tour manager.” (from the Wikipedia entry on the group Kraftwerk).
Is this an eggcorn, or is it a correct usage of one accepted meaning of the word “fulfill”? I’ve previously heard that term as “filled the role”, not “fulfilled…”.

Seems pretty standard to me—fits the semantics of both fulfill and role. Half a Meg ghits, for what that’s worth. “fulfill the function(s)” works fine too.
